BV Malaysia partners Maybank and the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) in groundbreaking pilot project
Dec. 2 2024
BV Malaysia is proud to partner Maybank and the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) in a groundbreaking pilot project to reforest a five-hectare ex-mining plot at FRIM’s Bidor Research Station in Perak.
Commencing by the end of the year, the project will involve planting approximately 3,750 trees of various species. Upon maturity, the initiative is expected to partially offset Maybank’s annual scope 1 and 2 emissions. Beyond carbon capture, the project also aims to improve the biodiversity of the surrounding area and provide local communities with alternative sources of food, income, and livelihood as Maybank works towards carbon neturality by 2030.
BV Malaysia will validate this project's legitimacy and verify emission reductions, ensuring the precision and transparency of carbon credit outcomes. Supported by a five-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Maybank and FRIM, this project marks a significant milestone in their commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
We are honoured to play our part in this initiative as we support Maybank’s commitment to carbon neutrality and affirm our dedication to a more sustainable future for next generations.
