BV Thailand and The Gem and Jewellery Institute of Thailand (GIT) signs Memorandum of Understanding

Bureau Veritas Thailand and The Gem and Jewellery Institute of Thailand (GIT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to drive responsible practices in the gem and jewellery industry in accordance with the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) Certification. This significant event was presided over by Wichit Sophitanontrat , Ph.D., Country Chief Executive CIF of BV Thailand, and Sumed Prasongpongchai, Director General of GIT. 
 
The Gem and Jewellery Institute of Thailand is a governmental organisation under the Ministry of Commerce to develop and promote the gem and jewellery industry domestically and internationally. GIT is responsible for analysing and creating standards and certifications for gems, jewellery and precious metals. The institute also conducts research and policy planning, inspections and training for professionals, members in their association and the public. 

 

BV Thailand will act as an independent third-party auditor and verifier for GIT in accordance with 
Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) Certification, a global standard for responsible jewellery throughout the entire supply chain.  This MoU aims to advocate for robust standards and to promote trust in the Thai jewellery industry by assuring companies that ministries and associated organisations are adhering to responsible business practices.
