BVPH presents Integrated Management System certification standards to Energy Development Corporation (EDC)

May. 24 2022

Congratulations to Energy Development Corporation (EDC) on receiving the Integrated Management System under ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 certification standards from Bureau Veritas Philippines (BVPH)!

A subsidiary of First Gen Corporation (First Gen), the power generation arm of First Philippine Holdings Corporation (FPH) - a Filipino conglomerate with interests in energy, real estate, construction, and manufacturing - EDC is a global and diverse renewable energy company with nearly 50 years of pioneering sustainable practices. As the largest 100% renewable energy company in the Philippines, it operates 1,181.8 megawatts (MW) of geothermal, 150 MW of wind, 132.8 MW of hydro, and 11.99 MW of solar—for a total installed capacity of 1,476.6 MW of clean and renewable energy.

Having first been certified by BV under the Environmental Management System Standard in 2015, EDC then decided to upgrade to ISO 14001:2015 as well as chose to have an Integrated Management System standard including the Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015) and Occupational Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001:2018). As part of EDC’s preparation for the Integrated Management System Audit, BV conducted a gap analysis in the form of a pre-assessment audit to identify the areas of improvement as well as the strength and good practices of EDC prior to the actual verification.

Despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic, BVPH and EDC were able to complete a successful and comprehensive Integrated Management System Audit. In April, Mr. Eduardo Jun Fuentebella, Certification Manager BVPH, Renz Adrian Dungo, Business Development Manager BVPH and Phoebe Barcelona Piscasio, Marketing Specialist of BVPH, awarded the certificates for the three schemes to Ms. Regina Victoria Pascual, Vice President and Head of EDC’s Corporate Support Functions Group.
